Taking part

“The agreement, without the fog.”

What it means to use this website and to join in on the nights, written in ordinary language and short enough to read over a cup of tea.

The agreement

“What you agree to by joining in.”

What these terms cover

These terms cover the website and your participation in the nights, leagues and chat server run by the Harbour LAN crew. By using the site or turning up to a night you agree to them, and to the fair play charter, which is part of them. If you don't agree, please don't take part. The site is for personal, non-commercial use by members and their guests, and the information on it is provided in good faith as a guide to what the community does.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Australian law.

The nights, the chat server and the club room are run by volunteers, who do their best to keep things safe and fair. We cannot promise that every game will run, every connection will hold or every storm will behave.

Complaints

If something goes wrong, tell us. Write to crew@harbourlan.com or ring the number on the contact page and say what happened. A volunteer who was not involved will read it, reply within a few days and, where needed, take it to the moderator or the referee. You will always be told what was decided and why, and a complaint made in good faith will never count against you. If you remain dissatisfied, you may raise the matter with the operator named on the About page and in the footer.

Age limit

The community and every night in the club room are for adults, 18 and over. We may ask you to confirm your age at the door or on the form. Anyone who gives a false age can be asked to leave and their details will be removed. We also ask members to look out for each other: if someone in the room appears to be under 18, tell a crew member quietly and we will deal with it.

No money, ever

Taking part is free. There are no fees, no memberships, no tickets and no charge for power or tea. Leagues and tournaments carry no cash prizes, vouchers, gift cards or sponsors' gifts, and no money changes hands over a match. A winner receives a title and a name on the honour board, and nothing else. Nobody may sell anything in the room or on the chat server, and nobody may ask other members for money or for favours that cost them anything.

Links to other places

The site embeds a map and may link to other websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for what they publish or how they treat your information, so please read their own notices. The map may set its own cookies when it loads. Pictures and text on this site belong to the crew and the members who made them, and may be shared with credit but not sold.

Changes

We may update these terms when the club changes how it runs. The new version replaces the old one on this page, and a note in the chat server tells regulars what is different. Carrying on after a change means you accept it. If you do not, you are free to leave at any time, and we will delete your details on request.
